Norstar Compact ICS Release 7.0 (April 2005)

A Compact ICS is a flexible building-block design expands with your business easily and cost-effectively. The CICS expands from a 4x8 to an 8x24 capacity.

Hardware

  • Two slots for universal 4x0 LS/DS or 4x0 CI trunk cartridge

  • One expansion slot for 8 port TCM station expansion

  • Up to 16 stations built in to main KSU

  • Compact space saving design with built in power supply.

  • Two 50-pin male amphenol connections for interconnections cables for the stations and lines ,the amphenols is also used for connection of external devices such as Music on Hold source, loudspeaker paging and a relay contact for auxiliary ringers.

  • Built in analog terminal adapter (1) The Internal Analog Terminal Adapter ( I- ATA) provides one connection for a modem, fax machine or analog telephone and does not take up a station port from total number of the digital stations.

  • Built in remote access device software dependable (IRAD) Once the IRAD is enabled, Norstar Remote Utilities software, allows remote programming for adds, moves, changes and troubleshooting. Moves, adds and changes can now be done from a remote site

The administration or the programming can be done from any extension on the system with M7310 phone or a larger phone. Or by using a computer with NRU (Norstar remote utility) software and connect to the FastRad either directly through a serial connection or remotely using a line.

New features and hardware for version 7.0

  • The Nortel Networks Digital Mobility system provides wireless communication with the CICS. This handset provides access to many system features, but does have some restrictions. The Nortel Networks
    Digital Mobility Controller (DMC) provides the functional connection between the CICs and the Nortel Networks Digital Mobility base stations and Nortel Networks Digital Mobility handsets.
    — New model name (UserPrefrences): DMC prtb (PORTABLE).
    — Under Maintenance: DMC prtb (model name) and software version added to Port/DN Status.
    — New defaults for Digital Mobility: Hands free defaults to none and Dial Modes (User Preferences) only supports Standard dial. Predial is configured through the handset firmware.
    — The Digital Mobility phones emulate the 7100 digital phones quite closely.

but there are some feature control differences because of how the wireless portable communications with the system. These will be noted within the documentation, where applicable. Also, unlike the 7100 digital phone, the handset has a four-line, 16- character-per-line display and soft key access to display prompts.
